Atlanta, GA – Various events are lined up across the state to honor and help breast cancer survivors. In celebration of the International Breast Cancer Awareness month, national and local organizations are coming together to help put an end to the Big C.

According to the 2016 Georgia Cancer Data Report, Breast Cancer is the number one cause of cancer for Georgia women. Moreover, it accounts for 30% of all new cancers in women.  The people of Atlanta are taking matters into their own hands by hosting various awareness events These alarming numbers are what caused the people of this great state to take up arms and take the fight to the streets.

So before picking up your Halloween costume, see if any of these events are happening in or near your home in Atlanta. Let’s show our support for these brave men, women and their families and help put an end to breast cancer!

October 7, 2018, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Now on its 20th year, Atlanta’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer continues to raise awareness about the disease. In partnership with the American Cancer Society, Making Strides fights for early detection, access to treatment and funds life-changing research.  The two-mile walk aims to inspire both advocates and survivors by showing just how many people are determined to find a cure.

October 12, 2018 – Save A Breast Karaoke Fest

Are you ready to show your singing prowess?  Beyond the Ribbon’s “Save the Breast Karaoke Fest” event will be held at the Olde Town Lawrenceville on October 12th. This is gearing up to be an event to remember as advocates and survivors look forward to a night of fun, awareness, and camaraderie. Proceeds raised will be used to help survivors living in the area. In addition, a silent auction will also be held during the event.

October 18, 2018 – Spirit Girls’ Night Out

Are you looking for a place to spend your monthly Girls Night Out? Why not take your best gals and guys to the 2018 Girls Night Out event on October 18?  Fashion and awareness will be the theme of the two-hour event. Attendees can avail of free health screenings and various booths that aim to promote breast health. Oh, and don’t forget to come in your best pink outfits as well!

October 20, 2018 – Uniting Dekalb for a Cure 5K Walk/Run

Uniting Delkalb will be happening at Northlake Mall from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on October 20th. Aside from the 5-kilometer walk/run, there will also be a health fair and kid’s areas. However, the highlight of this event would be the giving away of 80 free mammograms to uninsured women in the community. In partnership with the Susan G. Komen Foundation, funds raised during Uniting Delkalb will go directly to survivors and their families who live in the area.
