Go Rhinos, Go! Go Beat Breast Cancer!

The Rouse Hill Rhinos certainly outdid themselves this year, raising over $21,000 for the Breast Cancer Foundation. This is in comparison to last year’s efforts which raised an equally impressive $18,000. This event is also the team’s way to give back to the community and raise breast cancer awareness.

A high spirited crowed gathered at the Wrights Road Reserve to support the Rhinos and their chosen charities the Breast Cancer Foundation and the Ronald McDonald House.  Both young and old alike spent their Saturday afternoon having fun for a cause.

The Breast Cancer Foundation is 100% community funded – which means it relies solely on similar efforts to continue their great work. Breast Cancer hits close to home for Aussie women, being the most common type of cancer affecting the gender. Recent statistics show that 8 Australian women die from breast cancer each day.

Meanwhile, the Ronald McDonald House is a charity that helps families who are caring for a sick child. They do it by providing housing near the hospital where the child is being treated, covering transportation costs and bringing medical care to vulnerable communities. Services such as this can help alleviate the stress and give these families reason to hope for a better future for their child.

The next time you visit your local McDonald’s, look for their donation boxes!
