Real Men Wear Pink: Golfer Champions Breast Cancer Awareness

Got pink?

There is nothing in the world that excites Kevin Dunn more than golf – except maybe spreading the word about breast cancer awareness. This coming October, he is looking to break boundaries and make a difference for survivors by combining his two passions.

Now that Breast Cancer Awareness month is coming up, we are seeing the usual trend of women or women’s group spearheading fundraisers. Not that there is anything wrong with that of course – women need to stand up for each other all the way! However, it is also comforting to know that the gentlemen are also willing to go out of their way to support the cause. It makes us remember that breast cancer affects both genders.

Kevin is the Jefferson City Country Club’s resident PGA professional. He is always willing to help golfers improve their game. For him, anyone can learn how to play and enjoy golf. This is the reason why Mid-Missouri residents flock to him for advice on the range. Now on his 6th year as a coach, he wanted to bring something special to the Country Club and the nearby communities.

Kevin has invited 19 other men to participate in his 3rd annual Real Men Wear Pink fundraiser. These brave men vow to wear something pink every day for the month of October to show their support for survivors. It may seem like a simple thing, but last year’s efforts raised almost $50,000 for their chosen charities.

Who knew breast cancer fundraising can be simple yet so effective?

Real Men Wear Pink raises funds for the American Cancer Society and is held October of every year. For 2018, the affair will include a Ladies Day on October 10th, where the Real Men Wear Pink initiative will be celebrated. Kevin will also give free 10 to 15-minute lessons to supporters of the cause. It is an event that brings together people for a good cause!

Now on its 3rd consecutive year, Real Men Wear Pink continues to motivate, inspire and empower the community to stand up against the Big C. After losing close family to breast cancer, Kevin knows how important it is for survivors to have a good support system behind them. Despite his administrative work managing the several areas of the club, Kevin will always find the time to give something back.

If you live near Jefferson City, don’t miss out on all the fun in and out of the range. Let’s support Kevin and the American Cancer Society and continue to fight to find an end to cancer.
